Historical imagery can provide useful context that is invisible in a current aerial image.
Where suitable imagery exists, CDS can align and compare earlier aerial photography with the current property context to help illustrate broad changes in vegetation cover, tracks and access, dams and visible drainage features, structures, earthworks, surrounding development and apparent land use.
Historical imagery does not establish ownership, lawful use, approvals, legal boundaries or exact dates of unrecorded changes.
It is evidence for context, not a legal conclusion. Coverage, resolution and dates vary. Not every property has useful historical imagery for every period.
