Cairns Drone Services

Drone Mapping and Site Intelligence

Current high-resolution mapping for properties, farms, construction sites, development land and earthworks projects.

Standard aerial photographs show what a site looks like from above. Drone mapping creates a more structured and useful record.

Cairns Drone Services captures overlapping aerial imagery and processes it into current, high-resolution mapping products for properties, farms, construction sites, development land and earthworks projects.

Projects are scoped around the information and outputs the client requires.

Mapping Outputs

  • Orthomosaic Maps — geometrically corrected aerial maps from overlapping drone images
  • Digital Surface Models — representation of visible ground, vegetation, buildings and surface features
  • Terrain Visualisation — slope, elevation and hillshade products
  • Contours — indicative contour outputs; not certified survey information unless under appropriate professional arrangement
  • Point Clouds — three-dimensional spatial datasets for visualisation and specialist workflows
  • Annotated Site Maps — mapping with labels, zones, measurements and client-specific annotations
  • GIS and QGIS Outputs — georeferenced images, shapefiles, GeoPackage, KML/KMZ and QGIS project files
  • Historical Comparison — current mapping compared with available historical aerial imagery

Common Mapping Applications

  • Rural property mapping and farm paddock overview maps
  • Construction site mapping and development site records
  • Earthworks documentation, access mapping and stockpile monitoring
  • Site planning support, progress comparison and consultant support
  • Property intelligence reports and current aerial basemaps

Mapping Accuracy Depends on the Required Outcome

Not every mapping project requires the same level of positional control. Projects may range from visual site mapping through to controlled RTK or ground-control workflows.

The appropriate capture and processing method will be selected according to intended use, required output, site size, terrain, available control, access, airspace, accuracy expectations and professional requirements.

Cairns Drone Services does not provide cadastral boundary definition. Where a project requires certified survey information, legal boundary determination or engineering-grade certification, the relevant registered professional must be engaged.

Deliverables Are Agreed Before Capture

Depending on the project, delivery may include PDF mapping report, high-resolution orthomosaic, annotated map plates, contour files, surface models, point cloud, elevation or hillshade maps, KML or KMZ, GeoTIFF, GIS layers, QGIS project pack, image archive, online preview and before-and-after comparison.
